On March 13, the AANS, CNS and Society of Neurological Surgeons joined the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Advocacy Coalition in supporting the Substance Use Disorder Workforce Act (H.R. 7050). This bipartisan legislation would provide Medicare funding for 1,000 new GME positions over five years in hospitals with accredited residency programs in addiction medicine, addiction psychiatry or pain medicine and their prerequisite programs.
