On Sept. 21, the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0 (S. 1624) was approved by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP). Introduced by Sens. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Jerry Moran (R- Kan.), this legislation would expand the available funds to support research on pediatric diseases and disorders at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The AANS and the CNS previously sent letters of support to the Senate and House. Earlier, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce approved the companion bill (H.R. 3391) on Aug. 25, and it is awaiting action.
