In May, the AANS and the CNS sent letters to the Senate and House sponsors of the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0 (S. 1624/H.R. 3391). Introduced by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-Va.), this legislation would expand the available funds to support research on pediatric diseases and disorders at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). By redirecting penalties collected from certain health care organizations, this legislation provides a new funding source for NIH pediatric and childhood cancer research.
